Beginning Genealogy Workshop

  • Fat Hill Brewing 17 N. Federal Ave. Mason City, IA 50401 (map)

Are you decedent from kings and queens? War heroes? Pirates?! We’ve all wondered from time to time, but how many of us actually try and find out? Fat Hill is welcoming author and historian Linda McCann to the taproom in March to help you finally begin researching that family tree! Linda will share tips and tricks from her decades of genealogy experience, advice about what resources to avoid, and send everyone home with handouts and enough enthusiasm and direction to get started. Questions are very welcome!

Linda began researching her family genealogy about forty years ago and was completely surprised at some of her findings. She has written three biographies of her family members, and has also researched and written biographies for others. History is a passion for Linda. Over the years, she has written 14 books about Iowa history. She will have copies of all her books with her for purchase at the workshop if anyone would like one. (Cash/check only.)

Tickets are $22 each and include the instruction, handouts, and one free drink at Fat Hill. This workshop will run about two hours and is designed to be small so everyone has time to ask questions. Spaces are very limited. Click here to reserve your spot!
